RECAP: TEXAS UNITED DEFEATS CORPUS CHRISTI FC TO EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN TO THREE

Texas United was on the road again on Friday, May 25th in Corpus Christi as the team faced Corpus Christi FC in the team’s second consecutive away match. The match concluded with the score of 4-2, with Texas United defeating the sharks to improve to 3-0-0 on the season.

The match between the two Texas teams kicked off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. From the beginning, the game started quickly with both teams creating numerous chances in the first 10 minutes. In the opening minutes, Texas United came the closest to scoring with a shot the deflected off the post in the 18th minute.

After end-to-end action by both teams in the first half, Texas United was able to strike first in the 38th minute with Giovanni Montesdeoca finding the back of the net. The half concluded with Corpus Christi FC finding space in the back for a powerful shot, but goalkeeper Ben Hale held strong and deflected the shot wide.

The second half began just as the first half finished, with ample opportunities for both teams. However, Corpus Christie FC opened the scoring and equalized in the second half with a shot in the 55th minute from Nenad Markovich.

After a penalty cry that was not awarded in the 62nd minute to Texas United, Alejandro Padilla and Corpus Christi’s Nenad Markovich both saw a red card, which reduced both sides to 10 men the rest of the way.

Texas United handled the pressure of 10 men better than Corpus Christi FC did, with the away side grabbing two quick goals by Jorge Barrientos in the 74th minute and David Lozano in the 76th minute to make the score 3-1. Luke Thompson finished the scoring in Corpus Christi for Texas United with a second goal in the 83rd minute, which improved the score to 4-1.

In stoppage time, the home team was able to grab one back thanks to a shot from Grant Mobley. At the final whistle the final score read Texas United 4, Corpus Christi FC 2.
