The match kicked off at 7:00 p.m. and began with spells of possessions for both teams. Forward Giovanni MontesDeOco provided Texas United its first real chance of the match when he shot a rocket towards goal, but the goalie managed to tip it over the bar.

Not long after in the 25th minute, FC Cleburne’s Tim Ugo gave the match’s first goal and FC Cleburne the lead. With an assist from Joel Shungu, Ugo was able to slot the ball right by Texas United goalkeeper Hunter Harrison to make the score read 0-1 in favor of FC Cleburne.

Texas United responded quickly with a goal of their own in the 32nd minute when defender Steven Pate found the back of the net. With the help of a corner kick, Steven Pate was able to head the ball the past FC Cleburne goalkeeper Ed Pacheco to level the score at 1-1.

Texas United struck again quickly when Dominick Hernandez shot the ball past Pacheco in the 34th minute. The goal gave Texas United a 2-1 lead, a result which would hold until halftime.

Like the first half of the match, the second half took some time get rolling. In the 68th minute, Ugo struck again, his second of the match, to tie the score at 2-2.

In the 74th minute, goal scorer Pate went down with a serious ankle injury and had to be replaced. After a brief injury delay, Trey Vinson replaced the injured defender.

Action picked up in the closing minutes with a flurry of opportunities for both Texas United and FC Cleburne. After the ball found its way over Texas United goalkeeper Harrison, defender Jose Ponce made an impressive goal line clearance to keep the score equal at 2-2.

Not long after, FC Cleburne took a shot off the bar, but nothing came of it. At the end of the match, both Texas United and FC Cleburne settled for a 2-2 draw.

Up next, Texas United faces Houston FC at home in AirHogs Stadium on Wednesday, June 27th. The meeting between the two teams will be their second of the season.
