Texas United have signed Pitt Striker, Luis Sahmkow

Texas United is thrilled to welcome Luis Sahmkow to the team. Luis was born in Venezuela and moved to Texas at the age of seven.

Luis attended Plano East High School in Plano, Texas. After five games at the junior varsity level freshman year, moved up to varsity where he was named MVP and was the season goal leader for both JV and varsity. He was named Second Team All-District as a freshman.

In his club career, Luis played for Solar F.C, from 2018-21. For Solar, Luis helped his team to multiple top finishes and awards. They placed second in the U15/16 Dallas Cup and third in the U15/16 US Nationals in 2018. In 2019, Luis and co. were named DA U/16/17 National Champions. In 2021, they competed in the MLS Next. Luis led the league in goals (28) and won the U19 Dallas Cup championship and was named MVP in the final. He also played in the U19 MLS Cup semifinal that same season.

At Pitt, Luis appeared in 10 games, Scored one goal and tallied one assist with one shot in 132 minutes of play. Luis, made his first collegiate appearance vs. Duquesne, playing 16 minutes. He recorded his first career goal at home vs. Virginia Tech to help Pitt clinch its second-straight ACC Coastal crown. He also registered an assist in the NCAA Tournament Second Round vs. Northern Illinois.
